Bernard is a native of Harahan, Louisiana. He attended Archbishop Rummel High School in Metairie, Louisiana where he was a State Champion Wrestler for the wrestling team. He received a wrestling scholarship upon completion of high school to compete in college where he became a collegiate all-American in 2012. He received his Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Wyoming. While completing his degree, he was the Assistant Wrestling Coach for Northwest College in 2013-2014, and the team finished as the National Runner-Ups at the 2014 NJCAA Wrestling Championships. Bernard returned to Louisiana to attend law school at the Southern University Law Center where he graduated and passed the Louisiana State Bar Exam before joining the Law Office of David I. Courcelle. During college, he interned at Bonner Law Firm, a small civil litigation firm in Cody, Wyoming. During law school, he clerked for the St. Charles Parish Legal Department. He began working for the Law Office of David I. Courcelle in October of 2017 and has successfully tried cases in multiple Louisiana District Courts and has successfully argued cases before the Louisiana Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. He has always had a strong work ethic, which serves him well in his role as an attorney; his clients know he is dedicated to providing them with the best representation for their case. His wife of six years, Shyanne, is a pre-k teacher and they have two sons and a dog. Bernard additionally is a volunteer coach for the Scorpion Wrestling Club, a club for youth wrestlers based at Rummel High School. In his spare time, he enjoys golfing, fishing and spending time with his family.
